GitHub Copilot Free vs Pro: what you get for $10
Updated Oct 26, 2026 · Sources listed at the end
GitHub Copilot Free costs nothing but limits you to 2,000 completions a month and entry-level models, with limited chat and agent usage. Copilot Pro costs $10/month and includes 1,000 base plus 500 flex GitHub AI credits; GitHub prices one credit at $0.01.12
Who should upgrade
- Stay on Free if you code occasionally and the completion cap is enough.
- Pick Pro if you hit the cap or want more agent and chat usage.
- Look at Pro+ ($39) or Max ($100) if you burn through credits; they include more credits per month (see table).2
Business and Enterprise
Organisations buy Business ($19 per seat) or Enterprise ($39 per seat), which include per-user AI credits and admin controls.2
